Aston Barclay first to achieve EVA status across three auction centres

Aston Barclay has achieved Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) accreditation status at its Westbury auction as it continues to increase its focus on sustainability for colleagues and customers.

This is the first time a remarketing company has received EVA status across three separate sites.

Aston Barclay Westbury joins Donington and Wakefield in being EVA accredited, coinciding with all three centres now rolling out a bank of 22kW chargers for vendor and buyers, courtesy of its infrastructure partner Radius.

The chargers are proving invaluable as Aston Barclay continues to pioneer the sale of a growing number of used EVs on behalf of fleet, dealer and rental vendors.

Currently EVs and hybrids equate for 14.3% of all used cars sold by Aston Barclay, a figure which is consistently increasing month on month at a time when prices are stabilising, and dealer and consumer demand is rising.

Each new charging point is compliant with PAS:1899, to ensure it is available for those with diverse accessibility needs, considering the physical environment, placement, information provision and design standards.

The EVA scheme was developed by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) to recognise suppliers and retailers’ excellence in the electric vehicle sector.

To achieve the accreditation, the Energy Saving Trust independently audits individual suppliers and dealerships to verify that they meet a set of standards covering EV sales and aftersales. These include the customer qualification process, staff knowledge and training and charge points on site.

“Reducing our environmental footprint is an integral part of our group strategy as we help support buyers, vendors and colleagues on their Net Zero journeys,” said Albert Parnell, Aston Barclay’s group EV Lead.

“Its great news that we are at the forefront of EVA accreditation with over 160 colleagues having now attended IMI Level 1 EV courses, while we deliver training sessions to customer teams as part of our contribution to educating the industry about selling used EVs,” he added.
