Vehicle remarketing experts Aston Barclay has partnered with Net Zero Group to launch its annual Colleague Carbon Calculator, designed to help its 500 colleagues make more informed decisions about their personal carbon footprint.
The calculator, which was first launched last year, is just one of the initiatives launched by the Group as part of its ongoing drive to achieve end of end Net Zero by 2050. In 2022, the organisation became a “Carbon Neutral Energy” company, working with The Net Zero Group to offset its Scope 1 and 2 Emissions through Verra VCS Accredited projects including a natural gas recovery project in India and Brazilian deforestation prevention.
Users of the calculator are asked a series of questions to understand their potential annual carbon footprint, including their VRM, postcode and how many days they travel to one of the organisation’s six regional sites. This year’s tool has been updated with some more granular details, allowing users to get a more accurate calculation of their carbon footprint, including the ability to add multi leg journeys and public transport.
They will then be presented with a series of pledges, where colleagues can commit to reducing their carbon footprint by making more informed lifestyle choices.
Anthony Mills, Head of HSEQ & Compliance said: “After the success of our first Colleague Carbon Calculator, which saw 78% of colleagues across the business commit to a pledge to reduce their impact on the environment, we are thrilled to bring it back, new and improved, for a second year.
“We recognise the impact that the automotive industry has on the environment, but we have been working with our vendors, customers and colleagues to take responsibility for our part in making the sector as sustainable as possible. As a business, sustainability is a key priority for us, and will continue to be until we achieve our net zero goals, so we are thrilled to be able to bring our colleagues on a journey to support positive change regarding environmental impact.
"To feel we can all make a change, we first need to understand how we can help, and the Colleague Carbon Calculator is a great place to start. Understanding what contributes, and how we can help, helps build confidence in the subject and being able to make informed and impactful decisions”.
