Buoyant home delivery and construction sectors fuel used LCV market reports Aston Barclay

The continued strength of the home delivery and construction sectors is fuelling demand for used panel vans and pick-ups in February according to Aston Barclay’s latest used LCV desirability index.

Six out of the top 20 LCVs in the index are pick-ups and nine are panel vans as strong demand from operators in both sectors continues to fuel a healthy used market.

The most desirable LCV on the list in February is the Citroen Relay panel van which was joined by the VW Transporter, Peugeot Boxer, IVECO Daily and Renault Trafic in the top 10, all of which offer the home delivery sector a good mix of load space and driver comfort.

Second and third on February’s list are the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger pick-ups, with 4x4 models currently making higher prices than their two-wheel-drive counterparts. The Mitsubishi L200, Nissan Navara, VW Amarok and Fiat Fullback pick-ups also appeared in the top 20, as small and large construction companies look to acquire new or replacement vehicles to support their business growth.

“Home delivery and construction have both been booming and this continues to have a direct impact on the number of used vans going into the sector in the absence of new vehicle availability,” explained Geoff Flood, Aston Barclay’s national LCV sales manager.

“Demand for used LCVs is strong across the market but prices have currently hit their ceiling having not moved for the past six months at £8,320. However, with reports of delivery delays of some new LCVs of up to 12 months we could well see another price surge later in 2022,” he added.

Aston Barclay’s monthly index takes into consideration three key metrics: web views prior to sale, number of physical and online bids per sale, and the sale price achieved as a percentage of CAP average.
