Growth in home deliveries shapes Aston Barclay’s December LCV desirability index

Aston Barclay’s December desirability index has made a marked return to larger traditional panel vans as the growth in home deliveries continues to fuel the demand for used LCVs.

Topping this month’s chart is the Volkswagen Transporter and the Peugeot Boxer, followed by the Renault Trafic van in third place all of which combine a good load cube with high levels of driver comfort.

IVECO’s truck-like chassis and heavy carrying capacity put the Daily in fourth position to retain its consistent place in the index during 2021.

Pick-ups continue to find favour at auction, with both the Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi L200 appearing once again in the index. This demand follows the strong growth in industry sectors like construction who rely on pick-ups to keep their companies mobile.

Geoff Flood, LCV National Sales Manager at Aston Barclay commented; “The LCV conversion rates have been consistently strong in November, driven by the high demand and lower than normal volumes of stock in the marketplace.

“It’s clear this month that there has been a return in demand for panel vans over and above smaller car-derived vans which is all customer-driven,” he added.

Aston Barclay’s index takes into consideration three key metrics: web views prior to sale, number of physical and online bids per sale, and the sale price achieved as a percentage of CAP average.
