Aston Barclay partners with AutoSwot to boost staff automotive knowledge

Online knowledge platform, AutoSwot, has been selected by Aston Barclay to deliver a comprehensive programme of automotive knowledge training across their remarketing division and The Car Buying Group. Existing employees plus key new starters will have access for 12 months to online courses that cover subject matters from Electric Vehicles, to Remarketing, to the Changing Consumer Landscape, Automotive Market Dynamics, Retailing Used Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, the Vehicle Lifecycle and Tomorrow’s Automotive World.

Most of the participating team members will also undertake the core Automotive Overview course before delving into the various specialist subject matter courses. Each online AutoSwot course is supported by animation and full voice-over tuition, lasting between 45-90 mins, with delegates carrying out mini online ‘tests’ after each key section. Their results are available instantly, and employees receive Certificates of Completion, including their own personal scores. The comprehensive training programme will ensure that Aston Barclay sees an immediate strengthening of employees’ broader automotive knowledge.

Stephanie Grace, Group HR Director at Aston Barclay said: ‘Aston Barclay has always invested heavily into the personal development and training of all of its people. Not only is it good for job satisfaction, it also makes sound commercial sense. By ensuring that all our employees are fully conversant with the latest trends, changes, developments and dynamics in the rapidly changing UK auto sector, our customers know that we are acting on their behalf from a position of knowledge and insight. We’re very much looking forward to working with AutoSwot to rolling out this knowledge training programme across the entire business, empowering all employees in every role.’

Perran Moon, Managing Director at AutoSwot said: ‘With so much change in the UK automotive sector over recent years, it’s vital that businesses are providing their employees with the knowledge tools to stay fully informed. And, while as an industry we’re great at talking about our own products or services, our research has shown that many rarely appreciate how the various business sectors fit into the entire UK automotive eco-system. It also highlighted some fundamental knowledge gaps across levels – including in the Boardroom! With the rollout of Electric Vehicles, those gaps are widening. So it’s great to see a business as important to the UK auto sector as Aston Barclay investing in its people, to ensure they know what they are talking about and are capable of having credible, quality conversations with customers and suppliers alike.’
