Throughout December, Aston Barclay hosted a series of educational events in partnership with The Net Zero Group.
Launched on International Carbon Literacy Action Day, which aligns with this year’s #COP28UAE, is the world’s largest climate education-and-action training event. It brings together hundreds, and this year almost certainly thousands of people, from all walks of life, ages and countries all across the world, to become more informed about their environmental impact and provide our colleagues with Carbon Literacy training.
We were thrilled to welcome Mark Hammond and Joss Bennett from the Net Zero Group to present to our colleagues, alongside our Head of HSEQ Anthony Mills and our Group EV lead Albert Parnell. The sessions allowed our SLT to learn more about our partnership with the Net Zero Group to help us on our sustainability journey, the results of our all-colleague carbon calculator, and our electric vehicle roadmap.
In 2022, Aston Barclay became a “Carbon Neutral Energy” company, working with The Net Zero Group to offset its Scope 1 and 2 Emissions through Verra VCS Accredited projects including a natural gas recovery project in India and Brazilian deforestation prevention.
Anthony Mills, Head of HSEQ & Compliance said: “We recognise the impact that the automotive industry has on the environment, but we have been working with our vendors, customers and colleagues to take responsibility for our part in making the sector as sustainable as possible. As a business, sustainability is a key priority for us, and will continue to be until we achieve our net zero goals, so we are thrilled work with the team at The Net Zero Group to be able to bring our colleagues on a journey to support positive change regarding environmental impact. Understanding what contributes, and how we can help, helps build confidence in the subject and being able to make informed and impactful decisions”.
